I know more about FF history then all of you cause i got the money.
There to focused on being young again. I am one of FF's forefather fans. I even spent time with FFx2.
And let me tell you something they are trying to hard in being a jack of all trades. They should go back to Hironobu or there old fans and ask why only younger teenagers and kids are into FF.

Good remakes DO exist, however. Resident Evil on the GC was monumentally one of those by far. MGS Twin Snakes as well. Examine these two great remakes. They followed a particular formula which is to only make improvements in key areas. The game's audio wouldn't be as charming as it was back then, since it's all going to be crisp and auraly hi-def. The game's super-deformed anime inspired designs wouldn't hold up to todays standards, so they'd do it Advent style. That movie made everyone more mature looking and (quite bluntly) asian in nationality. Barret suffered from not being Black enough, whereas in FF7 he was steriotypically black.

An FF7 remake would be pointless. Take this into consideration: all of the locales and environments were in 2d, with models scaling into and out of perspective. This limited every environment to a basic path. Midgar at the begining of the game was pretty much the most linear portion of the game, and yet it was still very explorative.

jrps lend themselves to the japanese tastes. One of those is their near obsession with chibi stuff. Grown men in America can be viewed as pervs for delving in such foreign customs, since it's just wrong by our standards. MJ anyone? And all of you are misjudging this game. Blue dragon has exploration (this game is both for new comers and jrpg vets) and a world map that look really close to ff7's world map.
DO NOT COMPARE THIS GAME TO OTHER TITLES THAT ARE NOT RPG RELATED. this game is supposed to be 360's new line up of new rpgs that are and will come in the future.
MS is smart to put 360 logos in all major titles that are EXCLUSIVE .
The trailer is also on official Xbox magazine demo (DVD) and since ps3 can play dvds it can get the trailer running. this of course is NOT official news the guys over at ps3's booth thought it would be funny to display the trailer on a different console.
If they bring that back in any game It would be grate paying homage to there original fans.
